Atlantic Standard Time is a jazz
quartet based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
AST started in 2001 as a regular gigging
band, performing at numerous nightclubs, restaurants and
corporate functions throughout the Maritime provinces. AST
is a regular fixture at the Atlantic Jazz
Festival in Halifax, and the group is currently
seeking invitations to a handful of regional music
festivals and other venues throughout Eastern and Atlantic
Canada. AST has also been invited to perform in Cuba at the
Havana International Jazz Festival.
The group’s most notable musical influences include Miles
Davis, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stevie Wonder, James
Brown, and Prince; the rappers Common and Mos Def;
Radiohead and their frontman Thom Yorke; Rufus Wainwright,
Leslie Feist, Ron Sexsmith and Hawksley Workman. The group
